Our main aim is to show the love of Jesus to people in Zambia (particularly orphans and widows), by providing them with some of the tools they need to survive the poverty they are often born into. This is done primarily through Christian school education, however from time to time it may involve health care, adult education, nutrition or other provisions.Zambia is a poverty-stricken country where many people are in desperate need. AIDS (as well as other diseases, such as malaria) has contributed to Zambia being the country with the 2nd most number of orphans worldwide. Statistically, in Zambia, every mother is likely to lose one child due to preventable causes. The majority of Zambian families have extra children in their care, due to the large number of orphans. Health care and education are very basic, and many people can not afford even the basics. We see it as a privilege and a blessing to be able to help people with these basic needs.
We believe that in Australia, we are financially and materially blessed, therefore we can be a blessing to others.
Objectives / Aims
- To raise funds for any project in Zambia that the association decides to support, to help alleviate poverty, and to deliver services with a Christ-like attitude. This may include education, family assistance, food and clothing support.
- To support Manyando Youth Action Community School in Kitwe, Zambia.
- To raise funds for the building of a school in Chingola - by that means:
- provide quality Christian education for the poorest primary school children in the community
- provide the children who attend the school with 2 nourishing meals each day of the school week
- enable those educated at the school to gain employment
- ensure that those who complete primary school have the opportunity to continue their education (either by paying their tuition fees at another school, or depending on the funds available, building a High School on the same site)
- provide facilities out of school hours to approved organisations as a meeting point
- provide employment within the school to qualified local people
